Preschool

TinyHearts Preschool Curriculum promotes learning and developmentally appropriate practice while helping children meet the various language, social, physical, and cognitive goals appropriate for their age. The curriculum is taught by certified teachers and be based on the most up-to-date childhood education research.

Our Preschool Curriculum and program will support each child in all domains of development:

  • Social
  • Emotional
  • Cognitive
  • Physical
  • Language

When a child attends our child care and preschool program, they are exposed to a variety of people and different kinds of social interaction that will help them learn how to interact with others in a polite and productive manner. We teach our students some of the subtleties of social interaction such as being polite, taking turns in conversations, and distinguishing both verbal and non-verbal social cues.

Our curriculum supports our students' social and emotional wellbeing through lessons, stories, play, outdoor learning, and hands-on activities. The importance of our student's emotional development is strongly encouraged, beginning in our youngest class. Research shows that a child’s emotional development influences their self-confidence, empathy, the ability to develop meaningful and lasting friendships and partnerships, and a sense of importance and value to those people around them.

Our program supports the learning and processing of information – our thinking and knowing - in order to create lifelong learners. Cognition involves language, imagination, thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, and memory, which our students develop through hands-on learning and play.

Did you know that physical development falls into two categories – fine motor and gross motor skills? Fine Motor skills are activities occurring with the fingers in coordination with the eyes, such as reaching, grasping, releasing, and turning the wrist. Gross Motor skills involve the larger muscles in the arms, legs, and torso. Gross motor activities include walking, running, throwing, lifting, kicking, etc. At TinyHearts Childcare Center, our students are provided with a comprehensive education that allows them to play, learn, and grow in this essential developmental area.

From our youngest class, our students learn to express themselves in order to communicate with others. By learning sounds, combining those sounds into meaningful words, and putting words together into sentences to communicate our thoughts, our students are able to express themselves.

Here at TinyHearts Childcare Center in Plainview, our program believes in teaching young children about respect and empathy. Children are treated with respect and are gently shown how to be empathetic and considerate, how to build friendships, and how to work productively in small and large groups. Creative conflict resolution, sharing, and positive emotional communication with peers are encouraged by teachers.

Athletics are an important part of child development, and participation in sports has a lasting positive impact on kids. In addition to the physical benefits, kids who participate in sports from a young age learn to have better control of their bodies. This positively affects important motor functions like coordination, fine and gross motor skills, and balance, and these positive effects can last a lifetime. At TinyHearts Childcare Center, our students are provided with a comprehensive education that allows them to play, learn, and grow in all of the essential developmental areas through programs such as our weekly soccer lessons.

Childhood is one of the best times to start on the path toward self-respect and respect for others, as well as physical health and emotional balance. Studying karate or other forms of martial arts offers young kids the chance to develop both physically and emotionally, giving them an opportunity to reach their peak potential. Here at TinyHearts Childcare Center, we give your child the tools necessary to develop the healthy habits that will transfer into all areas of life through our special programs such as karate.

Unlike other areas of study, music ignites all areas of child development and strengthens skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together. Research suggests that promoting movement and activity in children can help increase attention, memory, language, emotion, and many other important factors of early development. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn things like the sounds and meanings of words, and dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. At TinyHearts Childcare Center, you can find our students participating in unique and age-appropriate movement activities with our staff and special guests.

STEAM learning refers to a comprehensive science, technology, engineering, art, and math education curriculum. STEAM learning in early childhood education promotes problem-solving, and creative and analytical thinking, making these subjects essential to your child's education. Our STEAM-based curriculum builds a love of learning in all of our students and prepares them for their next level of education.
